"Subliminal Perception means “below threshold;” a threshold is the point at which a stimulus is perceived 50% of the time. Subliminal message are words, images, or sounds that may appear in the media. Typically, subliminal messages are not recognized when they are seen or heard because they’re ignored by the conscious brain and go beyond the level of conscious perception. The accepted theory today is that subliminal messages are perceived by the unconscious or subconscious mind; they may be more easily accepted this way because the conscious mind cannot analyze or rationalize these messages. Subconsciousness is able to process 20,000 bits of information simultaneously, however, consciousness can only process 7 ± 2 bits of information at the same time".
